Summer Fun
A Message from East Charlotte Family Physicians
As the summer begins I am sure a lot of you have already made plans on how you are going to spend your vacations. Well before you begin plans of fun and enjoyment, I would like to provide you with some safety tips to make sure you have a safe an enjoyable summer.
- WEAR SUNSCREEN- sunscreen is a protectant used to help prevent damage to the skin. It is recommended that use a sunscreen of spf 15 or greater on both sunny and cloudy days that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. It is important to also reapply sun screen either every 2 hours or after swimming or sweating
- STAY HYDRATED- As your body sweats, you lose water. You need to replenish the water you lose or you will run the risk of having heat-related illnesses ranging from crams to a stroke. It is important that you main cool and properly hydrated during the summer months.
- UPDATE YOU MEDICAL RECORD- Even with proper preventative measures, emergencies can still happen. In the event that it occurs out of town, it is important to provide accurate medical information (immunizations, medication list, etc…) that way medical personnel can provide the right treatment.
These and other tips can be found at http://www.aap.org/advocacy/releases/summertips.cfm. Have a safe and wonderful summer. To schedule an appointment, please call (704) 863-1550.
